The Football Parent's Game Day Checklist: What to Bring to Friday Night Games

Friday night football is a whole event. Between the drive, the warmups, four quarters and the wait after the game, football parents can spend four hours or more at the field. Being ready makes the night a lot better. Here's what to bring.

1. Stadium seat or bleacher cushion

Metal bleachers get cold and hard fast. A folding stadium seat with a back is worth every penny by the third quarter.

2. Layers, not one big coat

Early-season games can start warm and end cold once the sun goes down. A heavy hoodie over a tee lets you adjust as the night goes on. Late in the season, add a beanie, gloves and a blanket.

3. Cash for the gate and concessions

Plenty of schools still take cash only at the gate and the snack stand. Bring small bills so you're not stuck in line.

4. A charged phone and a portable battery

Between photos, videos and texting the family the score, your battery won't last the night. A small power bank fixes that.

5. Binoculars or a phone with good zoom

Spotting your player's number from the top row isn't easy. A little zoom helps you catch every play.

6. Snacks and water for after the game

Players come off the field starving. Having a drink and a snack ready in the car is an easy win.

7. Something that says who you're there for

Half the fun is letting everyone know which player is yours. Team colors, a number on your sleeve or a Football Mom or Football Dad hoodie makes it obvious who's cheering loudest.
